When we talk about better offices, we mean better experiences.

For years, workplace branding followed a familiar script. Put the logo on the wall. Spell out the values. Add a few amenities meant to signal culture and call it a day. That approach made sense at the time, but people expect something different now.

When we created a “living” generative AI art piece for Chevron, we shaped its abstract landscape using palettes and topographies from the surrounding hills at various times and seasons. We also embedded tiny photos of Chevron employees on every pixel of the point cloud. In this way, we made something completely unique to the place and people of the company. No logos, no brand guidelines; just an expression of what’s authentic to the company.

That is where a spatial brand system matters. At LMNL, we help companies move from branding as decoration to branding as experience. When transparency is a core value, for example, the answer may not be writing the word on a wall. It may be opening portals and sightlines to create visibility into spaces that are usually obscured, so the idea is felt rather than announced. In New York, we worked with local mural artist Scotty Albrecht to create a custom piece that embeds two brand statements in a geometric design, activating the space with art and also creating meaning authentic to the company culture.

For Chevron, the company wanted to speak about people energy rather than energy as a product, so we embedded the faces of their people into the pixels of a large generative video artwork. For a biotech client focused on immunotherapy, we began with what their scientists see under the microscope and translated that into a view of the night sky, connecting scientific discovery to a larger, universal sense of hope and shared human ambition.
The key to our approach is to start with brand stories, then dive into the culture, artifacts and rituals that define the brand DNA. LMNL Studio in collaboration with Chevron. 2025.
The strongest workplaces do not overwhelm people with messaging. They create resonance. They give people a reason to come in and something meaningful to feel when they arrive. The question is not, “How do we brand this space?” It is, “How do we make this place feel unmistakably ours?” That is the opportunity. And that is where the right partner can make all the difference.
The key to our approach is to start with brand stories, then dive into the culture, artifacts, and rituals that define the brand DNA. From there, we create environments, experiences and art moments imbued with the essence of the place, and most importantly, the people who give it life.
How can you transform your workplace environment into an authentic experience? Often our first step is a workshop with your stakeholders, so we can dive deep into what drives your organization–the goals, the values, the lived experiences. Then we study your existing brand, most likely developed for two-dimensional placement, and translate it into spatial principles. This is where your values come into play. If your culture values collaboration, we’re not going to apply the word to a wall. We’re going to design spaces where collaboration naturally flourishes, such as an innovation lab or a cafe.
LMNL can help turn your company’s values into lived experience through architectural interventions, art moments, and custom amenities that bring them off the wall and into action.
